TReND RETS Update
Dear ScreenDreamer TReND IDX customers,
This announcement pertains to ScreenDreamer customers who display TReND MLS IDX data on their websites.
TReND sent an email 8/6/08 intended to inform all members of the impending cutoff of the current data feed at the end of this month. The email has caused members to be concerned that their vendor may not be ready before the deadline therefore putting their TReND data in jeopardy. TReND’s strong recommendation for members to contact their vendor has ScreenDreamer overwhelmed answering calls and emails from concerned clients looking for an update on their conversion efforts. I want to take a moment to provide that update and reassure our customers that we are on top of the issue.
ScreenDreamer customers TReND IDX data is not and will not be in jeopardy. There will not be any disruption of service or data.
ScreenDreamer downloads, processes and displays data for many MLSs. Most MLSs provide us IDX data in a proprietary format with unique download procedures. A data “standard” called RETS has been developed for real estate data that will make it easier for web developers to download and process data, for more information go to www.RETS.org. More and more MLSs are deciding to convert from their proprietary system to a system. ScreenDreamer already works with several MLSs who use data like MRIS which serves DE, MD, VA and
Washington DC.
Up until now, TReND has provided ScreenDreamer with IDX data in a proprietary format that we download and for the home browser tool on your website. TReND notified ScreenDreamer and its other vendors in the spring or their intention to move to a RETS data feed and abandon the current feed by the end of August. They will be using the same system that MRIS is currently using. ScreenDreamer is working on the transition and is one of the vendors who have informed TReND we will be complete by the deadline. ScreenDreamer customers will continue to have up to date IDX data on their websites with no service interruption.
Additionally, ScreenDreamer will be announcing enhancements to the RF3 home browser enabled by the new data feed in the near future.
